WHAT IS CANYON WREN COACHING’S PHILOSOPHY?
Canyon Wren Coaching believes that coaching should be built on a foundation of trust. The athlete and their goals and lives are the number one priority and will always be considered when creating weekly training plans.
In addition, Canyon Wren Coaching believes that low-risk pregnancy is not a disease and that exercise can and should be done while pregnant, to the extent that feels healthy and safe to both the athlete and the athlete’s care provider.
DO YOU ACCEPT PREGNANT OR POSTPARTUM CLIENTS?
YES! Pre- and postnatal athletes are our specialty. I am a midwife and believe in providing safe and effective coaching with the input of the athlete and the athlete’s care providers.
DO YOU ACCEPT ATHLETES THAT AREN’T PREGNANT?
Absolutely! I accept all clients that are interested in distance running, from those just starting out to folks running their first half marathon or their 10th 100-mile ultramarathon!
WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER RUN BEFORE?
Then hiring a coach is a great first step! I have experience working with first time runners and will create a custom training plan to get you from your first step out the door to your goal race, distance or routine.
WHAT ARE ACADIA’S QUALIFICATIONS?
I am a graduate of Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgton, Maine, and is a Certified Professional Midwife licensed in Maine and New Hampshire. I am also a UESCA certified running coach who has run numerous races from half-marathon to 100k. You can read more about me in the coach bio on the homepage.
HOW OFTEN CAN I EXPECT COMMUNICATION FROM ACADIA?
Communication is a vital part of all healthy relationships, including the coach/athlete relationship! Once a week email communication will outline your upcoming weekly schedule with you, the athlete, recapping on the past week. In addition, all workouts will be assigned through the Training Peaks coaching app, which you will be able to set up at no extra cost upon starting coaching.
WHAT IF I CAN ONLY RUN ON CERTAIN DAYS OF THE WEEK?
I believe that a training plan should work with your life or that the workouts will not get done. As an ultra-runner with a busy and unpredictable schedule I have lots of experience in how to make workouts fit into busy lives. On the intake form, please put as much detail as possible about your schedule for initial creation. This will be adjusted as necessary throughout your training cycle.
DO YOU INCLUDE STRENGTH/CROSS TRAINING IN MY PLAN?
Yes! Strength and cross training are very important for all runners. We will work together to figure out what you have access to, and strength/cross training can range from body weight movements at home to a larger gym workout.
